Restored while retaining the original walls of the ancient Hospice of S Bartolomeo, which was already used in the 12th century by passing monks, and then began to host merchants who used this important road which connected Vienna to Genova. Its walls breathe with an air of past ages, that draw passer-bys under its spell. 

Positioned in a dominant point of The Tonale Pass and immersed in a spell binding natural environment, it is blanketed with a white shroud in the Winter months which gradually recedes to a sea of green and flowers in Summer, always with a breath taking view of the Presanella mountains.
